| Druk Path Trek |

This is a short five-day trek, which leads from Paro to Thimphu, or vice versa, crossing a chain of mountains that separates the two valleys. Although the route is sparsely inhabited, there are wonderful lakes teeming with fish and the area is famous for its spectacular rhododendron forests, which bloom in May. In the clear weather of late autumn and winter there are great views of the Himalayas . |

Day 01: Arrive Paro |
During the flight, on a clear day, you can see breathtaking views of the Himalayan mountains, including the sacred Jumolhari and Jichu Drake peaks in Bhutan. On arrival you will be greeted by our representative and transferred to your hotel. In the evening stroll through the Paro market and town. Overnight in Paro. |

Day 02: Paro |
Drive the winding road northeast up the Pa Chhu to Drukgyal Dzong, the ruined fortress which once defended this valley from Tibetan invasions. Mount Jhomolhari , the sacred summit reaches skyward beyond the Dzong. Below the Dzong, visit a typical Bhutanese farm house. Then visit the Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest and most sacred shrines of Bhutan . make an afternoon visit to Ta Dzong, once a fortified lookout tower that is now the National Museum. Then walk down the trail to visit the Rinpung Dzong meaning " fortress of the heap of jewels". Overnight at the hotel in Paro. |

Day 03: Paro-Jele Dzong (8 km, 3 hours) |
Today is a short trekking day. The day starts with a short climb to Jele Dzong. The trek trail is rather gradual uptill the camp, and if the weather is clear the Paro valley can be seen with snow-capped mountains behind. Above the camp is Jele Dzong (3,400m). which is mostly in ruins. Near the dzong is a Lhakhang ( monastery) with a statute of Buddha Sakyamuni. Overnight camp. |

Day 04: Jele Dzong- Jangchulakha (10 km, 4 hours) |
Begin with an hour and a half climb, and then ascend gradually up. The trail takes you through thick alpine forests and rhododendrons. You may see yak herders around your campsite. Enjoy the fascinating views of Jhomolhari and other snow capped mountains. and listen for the sounds of monal peasants during the day. |

Day 05: Jangchulakha-Jimilangtsho (11 km, 4 hours) |
The trail follows the ridge and on a clear day, the views of the mountains and valleys are sensational. The camp is close to the lakes of Jimilangtsho. These lakes are famous for their giant sized trouts. There are also great views of the 6,989 m Jichu Drake, the peak representing the protective deity of Paro. Overnight camp. |

Day 06: Jimilamgtsho-Simtokha (11 km, 4 hours) |
The trail takes you through dwarf rhododendron trees and bypasses the lake of Janetsho . Today, you may come across some yak herder's camp and get an idea of how these people live. The camp is close to Simkota Lake . Overnight camp. |

Day 07: Simkota-Phajodhing (10 km, 4 hours) |
Today you begin with a gradual climb, and if the weather permits, you will enjoy a majestic view of Mount Gangkar Puensum, and also the other peaks. The trail slowly descends through juniper- trees to the campsite that is beside a community hall near Phajodhing Cafeteria. Overnight in Cafeteria or camp. |

Day 08: Phajodhing - Thimphu (5 km, 3 hours) |
The trek to Thimphu is all the way down hill through a forested area of mostly blue pine. Taking a leisurely pace, you reach Thimphu in about 3 hours. Afternoon at leisure. Overnight at the hotel in Thimphu. |

Day 09: Excursion to Punakha/Wangduephodrang |
After breakfast, you begin your full day excursion to Punakha and Wangdue valleys. The drive from Thimphu crosses the 3,100 m Dochula pass that heralds the most enchanting views of Bhutan . In Punakha, visit the Dzong situated at the junction of Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers. Built in 17 th century by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, this Dzong has played an important role in Bhutan 's history. Then drive to Wangduephodrang visiting the Dzong, the 17 th century monument, followed by visit to the local Wangdue market. Ddrive back to Thimphu in the evening. Overnight at the hotel in Thimphu. |

Day 10: Thimphu-Paro |
This is a full day of sightseeing in Thimphu. Visit the National Memorial Chorten built in 1974, the Tashichhodzong-- a beautiful medieval fortress/monastery-- and the Handicraft Emporium. IN the afternoon, visit the National Library that houses ancient Buddhist texts and manuscripts, the School of Art and Crafts famous for traditional thangka paintings, the Traditional Medicine Institute where the centuries old herbal medicine are still practiced. In the evening, drive to Paro and overnight at the hotel there. |

Day 11: Paro depart |
After an early breakfast in the hotel, drive to the airport for your flight to your onward destination. |
