Paro Day Hike

Chummo Phu Hike

A short drive away from Paro town will bring you to the starting point of the hike. The hiking trail leading to Chumo Phu temple is accented with peculiarly shaped rocks termed as “Nye” in Dzongkha carrying religious values and meanings. The first 2 hours of the hike is a gradual ascent and you will be following the gushing turquoise Pa Chhu River. The hiking trail enveloped by the green forest is a refreshing sight. In the last hour of the hike you will have to tackle very steep inclined trails.

The panorama of the white temple amidst the vast green mountains is magnificent. The temple is the abode of a brass-bronze statue of Dorji Phagmo (Vajravarahi) built in the 17th Century. It is a few millimetres afloat from its base. A 5-minute walk from the temple will bring you to a lake at the base of a rigorous waterfall accessorized by colorful prayer flags. Enjoy the lungful of fresh air and the quiet.
